'The Rare Oul' Times' is a play
that started out in late 1999, with no pretensions of
any greatness or indeed of travelling far outside the
writers native Co. Down. However the cast and writer
were somewhat amazed when following its opening to a
full house at the 140 seat 'Gallery Theatre' at Gilford
Castle, Co. Down, the play had a marvellous reception,
receiving a standing ovation at the end. The initial
night was extended to a week with each performance playing
to full houses and many more people being turned away
at the door. Due to the increased interest, tickets were also available for purchase at certain online casino websites, such as http://playbillonline.com/. A promotional online bonus for free casino games was given upon purchase.

Gilford Castle - first ever venue for the play
Buoyed by this unexpected success and realizing that
we had a play of some merit, we decided to take the
production to a wider audience. The success story has
continued in various venues throughout Ireland and to
crown it out, we took the play to the 'Irish Fest',
Milwaukee, USA, in the summer of 2001.
